Custom manufactured approaches with specific sensitivities and endeared interventions. Working with mixed-method smithing, combined metalwork and manufacturing techniques, revered material fusions, mixed-artistry, low- and high tech, architectural metalwork, scenic design, and analog and digital productions.
Founded in 2015 by designer Paula Karvonen (MA in Design Critical Practice & Theory, University of London, Goldsmiths, BA Hons in Product Design, University of Bedfordshire, England).
  • Spatial & Project-Based: Spatial dramaturgies, biophilic design, collaboration with municipalities, community planning, artists, projects and mixed eras
  • Contract manufacturing: Surface treatment consultation, prototyping, bending techniques, sheet metal and steel exchange, vintage metals and heritage (copper, brass, aluminium, perforated sheet metals, industrial design, mixed-tech metallurgy, manufacturing and casting technologies, other curiosities)
  • Metal-, mixed media-, bio-based: Bio-casts, re-molds, research and collaboration, ferrous metalwork, engraving, casting and forging
  • Product Design & other: Interdisciplinary design, interaction and technical briefs, feasibility, industrial and spatial design
  • Art, Craftsmanship, intellectual production: Collaboration with ideas, design drafts, scripts, scenographies, technicians, curators, museums, exhibition and display plans, other professionals
  • Architecture & Environment: Architectural structures, built environments, restoration, landscape design, public art projects and installation
  • Sea, water & special contexts: Custom designed winter swim stairs with feasibility, lighting, assembly, railings, modular structures, other functional details
  • Engineering & Design: Engineering, technical design, 2D-3D, AI, material design, modular structures, R&D, mixed disciplines
  • Design Education: Collaboration with schools, arts, science and learning, museums, research, academic projects, social design, art institutions & creative productions (https://www.designmuseum.fi/fi/designakatemia/)
Peltin was born from an art-industrial ambition to create both long lasting and temporary interventions, using mixed surplus, vintage sheet metals, revered items and multidisciplinary expression. Focused on detailed finishings, mixed-tech engineering, material history and spatial interpretation, Peltin explores new ways to merge craftsmanship with responsive aesthetics and future possibilities allowing things to evolve, dissolve and adapt by contemporary conditions and inter-specific collaboration.
Aligned with contract manufacturing and feasibility, Peltin researches surface treatment options in respect of inter-philic design functions, circularity and technical properties in respect of artistic expression, esteemed materials and evolving starting points.
